Originally written during the Covid lockdown when we could not venture far from home, Brendan visited architecturally interesting buildings in the neighbourhood of Skerries. These include Milverton gate lodge and Milverton Home Farm Manager’s house. Venturing a little further, Balbriggan has many buildings worth a second or even third look such as St George’s schoolhouse, the courthouse and library, the Catholic church of Saints Peter and Paul and the Church of Ireland church of St George. Brendan’s tour extends as far south as St Ita’s in Portrane. He also includes a pen picture of architect Sandham Symes, whose work includes houses in Balbriggan and St George’s school.
